ABOUT

Elements Of The Better Days

(and Jez RK Buckby)

Elements Of The Better Days is the debut studio album by Jez RK Buckby. Jez is a vocalist, pianist, lyricist and producer who was born in August 2005 at the Dandenong Hospital in Dandenong, Australia. Growing up, the upcoming artist was exposed to all kinds of music and art. Being raised with the music of Ed Sheeran, Bruno Mars, Maroon 5, Usher, Akon, Eminem and Matchbox Twenty, he formed a kind of limited variety in genre and a limited exposure to Rock, Jazz and several other musical genres.

Throughout the years, Jez has experienced a lot of different types of moments with all different musicians, and other upcoming artists. Jez has written a lot of different kinds of pieces from bedroom pop to punk rock, to rap, but his voice is only fitted to Indie Pop (like Lewis Capaldi and James Bay) which causes the majority of this album to sound almost identical throughout each song.

Mr Buckby wrote the entirety of Elements Of The Better Days by himself (not including the cover pieces) and recorded the majority of the album by himself as well. Jez spent a month living with his close friend Lionel Thomas and Lionel's girlfriend (Jez's ex girlfriend Lisa) in early 2022. During this time, Jez would go into Lionel's in-home studio early mornings with a cup of peppermint tea. He would sit at the black grand piano and just play a melody for hours on end, no breaks or stops (well apart from sips of tea).

Lionel would wake up sometimes to the sound of Jez belting his voice with the sound of heartbreak. Normally, the songs would be those that he wrote with former partner Kayt Hyggs, songs that hurt Jez deep in his soul. When Lisa woke up, she would make Jez a coffee, and a bowl of porridge and sit down with him on the studio floor, just discussing the album ideas, sharing cute smiles and eventually kissing.

Elements Of the Better Days is about not falling into depression and not believing that you are alone. Jez said in a session that 'Having moments where I wanted to kill myself, and moments where I wanted to scream from joy, I realize that life will have up's and down's, but I need to accept future and past. The present is where I want to be.'
